Best Friends PSU

Best Friends is a national organization dedicated to saving dogs and cats from euthanasia in shelters. Best Friends has a mission to make every shelter non kill by 2025. At the Pennsylvania State University chapter of Best Friends, we will aid in supporting this initiative, while working to find a home for all local animals in shelters. We advocate for improving the country's animal shelter system and make sure that no pet is left behind.

OC Animal Advocates

Working to bring back CARE to OC Animal Care shelter in Tustin, CA - If you live in one of these cities then your tax dollars are going towards OC Animal Care: Anaheim, Brea, Cypress, Fountain Valley, Fullerton, Huntington Beach, Lake Forest, Orange, Placentia, San Juan Capistrano, Tustin, Villa Park, Yorba Linda, and the unincorporated areas. I, along with countless volunteers, shelter employees, and rescue groups have been trying to get the current administration and superiors of OC Animal Care to reinstate the basic animal services that the taxpayers and animals of our county deserve, as well as to meet ALL goals on their 2018 JVR shelter strategic plan: - A safe and enriching shelter environment with sufficient kennel attendants to provide a clean kennel, food/water, and daily exercise. - Restart the TNR (Trap, Neuter, Release) program to help us control the cat population. In the last 7 days, 74 cats were found killed on the streets or were euthanized on arrival on arrival at the shelter. By having a Robust TNR program research has shown that the shelter intake is reduced dramatically. - Open the $35 million dollar shelter facility to the public without restrictions. OC Animal Care needs to discontinue the restrictive appointment-only system to allow healthy adoptable animals to find homes. Also to lower the need for euthanizing due to behavior or illness caused by the shelter environment and lack of enrichment and behavioral programs. The bottom line is the animals in our community need to be treated better. We must tell our elected officials that they need to hold the shelter Director and her superiors accountable and demand these essential services are restored to our community. Can you help? Help us open the OC Animal Care shelter without restrictions and bring back animal services to our community! Check out www.opentheocshelter.com for more information.
